Rise of Kossuth
The former Pirate King and former Leader of the Night Masks in Westgate, “Cutthroat” Car’Vass was one of the most dangerous and feared pirates in Faerun until the day he was bitten and became by a vampire, making him possibly the most dangerous! He was one of the many teachers of Azura Thrul and the most influential. At the age of 15, “The Cutthroat Clan” abducted Azura from the docks of Westgate after receiving information that she was a loner who sought training. After learning who she was, Car’Vass was intrigued and took her up on her offer, despite the Clan’s objections. Car’Vass and Azura met secretly several times during the late evenings aboard his pirate ship “Umberlee’s Wrath” and during the day inside the well-hidden “Castle Car’Vass”. Trading training for sex meant something a little more between the two. For a short time, Car’Vass was both a lover and teacher until the day he acknowledged his association with Azura to her father, Zulkir Thul. Car’Vass did this for simple reasons: Azura did not wish to become a vampire, Car’Vass could no longer control his passion for her, and The Empire of Thay sought his head after learning of their association with one another. For surrendering himself to Lord Gellar and for not turning his daughter into a vampire, Zulkir Thrul spared his “life” and did not destroy the vampire, agreeing instead to imprison him in a dark tomb beneath Thaymount with no possibility of escape. Knowing the Red Wizards would confiscate his magical possessions for their own use, Car’Vass put his belongings (one believed to be a Legacy Weapon) into a black bag and tossed it into a deserted well somewhere near the Dragon Coast. The Red Wizards have agents searching for the bag, believing that the Vampire left them as hidden gifts for his eternal love of the Zulkir’s daughter.
